I'd start him if at all possible. Not only is he a better option than Clarke but Wyke looks much better with Jones alongside him.

Having Jones on the pitch gives the central defenders something else to think about than Wyke, so it's a must in my opinion. Wyke (when not being manhandled by 2 CBs) has a great touch and good vision and I think Jones is alive to it. Clarke is usually miles away from it. We need to be playing Wyke and Jones together whenever possible to continue to build that understanding.
The prospect of playing the same team as against Fleetwood only makes me think of a dreary afternoon at Wembley where we potentially crash out by being over cautious. It's interesting that a lot of people on C&B are calling for just that. I personally don't want to go back to keeping it tight and then hoping to profit from set pieces and lucky bounces. The XI that we played against Fleetwood is pretty much a Parky team - albeit the full backs are both allowed to cross the half way line. Without Jones playing, all the Millwall back 4 need to do is keep Wyke and Marshall quiet then their job is done. Nobody else in the side can score from open play (Cullen, Law, Clarke, Vince etc.). When we do play Marshall and 3 centre mids plus Clarke, we might retain the ball, but we don't carry much of a threat - particularly if Marshall is marked out of the game by a physical and mobile full back. If McCall picks the same XI and goes cautious we could end up getting spanked as we seem to be a bit fragile on the big occasion. Gilliead and Jones should now be available to start so let's see some intent from City, let's see some cojones. If he does start with Jones and GIlliead on the bench, I hope he does't wait till the 80th minute to change it if we are not winning.

Jones has to start for me. How often does Millwall split Morrison and Gregory up? Like Rick said, they need to play together as much as possible.

After cogitating on this very subject I've decided that Jones is the key to victory. If he starts we'll win. If Clarke starts we'll lose. Mark well my words.

I preferred the other Alex Jones thread.

Does jones have enough presence That was last year. This year skill and talent seem to be more important. Which is odd as last year it didn't matter a jot.

Does jones have enough presence He has general but lacks physical. It's very rare a striker has both.

I hope you're wrong hobbers because Clarke is nailed on to start so unless he plays in a system that puts him behind two strikers Jones is going to be getting splinters at best.

If Edin has as much influence as we're led to believe I'm certain we'll see Jones and Wyke up top.

No chance. Clarke and Wyke. I really hope not. One hasn't scored since November and the other hasn't scored since ploughing a lone furrow up front on his own. Wyke really doesn't look good playing up front on his own. It's just not his game. Best chance of goals is playing Wyke and Jones up front together - it's blindingly obvious. If it were up to me (injuries permitting) I'd play Jones for Clarke and Gillead for Law. McCall will start both Clarke and Law and Rahic will seethe in his box.

Clarke to start. and put in a man of the match performance. Do we have an "optimistic" icon over here?
