For all their possession, i thought Italy had few clear cut chances. And if it wasn't for a scrappy equaliser, we'd probably be hailing Southgate as a tactical genius. Fine margins etc etc. The thing is who would replace him? Hardly any decent English candidates to choose from. Gerrard? Lampard? Howe? Potter? Dyche? Bruce? All would be sidewards steps at best. Going foreign would be a backwards step IMO and would send out the wrong message. So i think we're stuck with Southgate untill at least the next world cup. Gerrard wouldn't be a sideways step. Sure he's been managing in that mickey mouse league but at least he has some silverware to his name as a manager. All Southgate has ever known is failure. Probably a bit harsh on Southgate. He's still England's best tournament manager since Ramsey. Granted he's benefited from the fruits of England's youth system and the the premier league academies. Perhaps their is an argument that a top manager would have done better with the current crop of players. But, as i said, i think going foreign would send the wrong message. It would be an admission that we're a second tier football country. All the 'major' football nations, bar Belgium, have domestic managers. As for Gerrard, even Stuart managed to finish second in the that joke of a league with a much smaller club. I think he needs to prove himself in one of the major leagues before being considered for England.

Rashford looked like a man who expected to miss. I'm surprised by Rashford's miss because he's taken some massively under pressure penalties and nails them every time

I think Southgate did pretty well. Needs to work on his subs and let the fucking reins off a bit, but compared to pretty much any other England manager he’s performed miles better. He got the basics right defensively but we wasted some good players. Foden, Grealish, Sancho and Bellingham in particular didn’t get enough minutes whereas Mount, Saka, Henderson and, for different reasons, Sterling, got too many. I like Saka and don’t mind Mount but Saka is mostly potential and while Mount is improving neither of them are as good as the three I’ve mentioned above. As for Bellingham, every minute Henderson got should have been his. I’ve never seen a player get as far as Henderson has just by doing the basics of his job. For me Mount isn’t up to tournament football yet, he’s been poor for England in most games he’s played. The future is good for us but they need a manager who can let them play their game. Southgates reign looks good on paper but he’s had very easy paths to the wc semis and this final.

Oh dear. Record books will show the winners were Italy, no matter how you dress it up. How often at top level sport are trophies, accolades, prize money etc. Won by those who may not do things in what is deemed the morally right way? Fairly obvious though it's someone who's been a football fan for the last two weeks. Actual fans know this is the reality of a lot of winning sides.

View AttachmentEngland have got better at the shithousing under Southgate, but they're still not there yet. Italy should have had a red for that pull then another red for the stamp on Grealish, but we all know UEFA referees don't give things against Italian sides. It's always been the way. The Italians are boss-level corrupt. As for Chiellini running round like the fucking Duracell Bunny at 36, if he's not filled to the tits with Tour de France-style magic juice then I'll eat my hat. But yes, they won, and it probably is sour grapes. We need to get better at the EPO dosing.

Marcus Rashford is the new Princess Diana, they'll have him walking through on existent minefields next. I'll go pay my respects to him later.

Hats off to the vandal if he has taken the time to write an insult like that though.

That's not to say its right but we need some perspective here. Even if the perpetrators are caught what exactly should be the punishment? Can't jail them, the prisons are already full, can't educate them because they are beyond that. I read people wanting long term sentences handed down. Is that really the answer? The people with these sort of thought processes have always been amongst us and will continue to be. Just in this day and age they now have a platform to air their repugnant views, years ago most would ignore them. The social media platforms can do something about it but choose not to for fear of hittinf their profits.

I worry that the amount of airtime and oxygen given to these trolls is actually encouraging them. The whole race debate is becoming more divisive and toxic, not less.

Something feels very contrived about the current furore.
I don't deny there was a few incidents of yobbery here and there, but i've not heard of anything too serious. Heard about a few scuffles, but to be expected after such an emotionally charged event. Thought most of our fans were quite gracious in defeat.
I personally didn't witness any trouble after the game, just a lot of deflated fans mulling about grumbling about tactics.
The whole racism angle seems to have been stoked by the usual grifters and woke puritans. Almost like it all racism just appeared from the digital ether and superimposed itself on actual reality.
A few racist dickheads for sure, who should be condemened. But the troll accounts could be any cunt anywhere. Bots, provocateurs, wums, aliens, skynet, genetically enchanced monkeys, gay frogs... fuck knows. Its twitter ffs.

The biggest disturbance I’ve seen is the footage of hundreds, possibly thousands of fans who stormed an entrance gate without tickets. Now, I’m not saying its right, but when you’re charging a grand for tickets, what the fuck do you expect? UEFA should be investigated for fucking robbery.

Especially when there’s two and a half thousand tickets given out to dignitaries like Tom cruise and Prince and princess dick head.

If the most Liberal bloke in the world in Gary Lineker can be piled on by the twitterati then just imagine GMP saying the defacing of the mural wasn't racially motivated. We could end up with serious trouble again, you've seen what social media is like at the moment. Social media is a very toxic place right now.

The Chief Constable of GMP has already said he disagrees with Black Lives Matter, is against "virtue signalling, woke policing" (whatever that is, equal opportunities shit-kicking?) and would discipline any officer taking a knee for "not being impartial". So...
That said, it probably wasn't. You couldn't actually read half of it because of the enormous cock and balls they'd drawn.
