Dont mind a bit of Carling would gave preferred some Stella or some Hoegaarden but at least its not witches piss Carlsberg or noncey real ales. Hopefully the hring the carling premier with them Don't mind carling premier. Carlsberg export isn't that bad either, especially on draught. They used to serve it at Avenue (not sure if they still do). I was surprised how good it was

It's what brings the money in. They wouldn't go with Carling if it wasn't the best offer about. Like I said most football fans couldn't care less, there's always North Parade for those who want a pint of farmer Giles piss for £7.50. It’s not just about what you can get for the cheapest deal, it’s about hitting that sweet spot between cost and demand. I’m not a lager drinker but I’ve never heard people who are complain about any beer more than Carling. If they want to tempt people to spend money at VP rather than the pubs around the ground then Carling won’t cut it. Carling is, by a lot, the biggest-selling beer brand in the UK. So whatever we all think of it, clearly people enjoy drinking it.

Apparently celebrations are the biggest selling box of chocolates, but nobody wants to get given that heap of shit.

It’s the same as McDonald’s, Coca-Cola or pop music: get the packaging right and people will buy any old shit. A slick marketing strategy beats making a quality product when it comes to people who don’t have either the ability or inclination to stop and consider what they’re eating, drinking or listening to. It’s mass produced crap for a distracted market; elevator music in liquid form. People drink it because it’s there but these same, easily pleased people will also drink the better quality choice that the more discerning minority look for. Offering Carling (if they must) as the staple but with alternatives would be the way to go. Sadly it looks like the alternatives are available in the suites only so for the vast majority of us it’s a straight choice between spending our quid away from the ground or not bothering. Over the course of the season that could add up to a fair amount of lost revenue.

And the big money from the big brewery won't be there if you're telling them that there will be direct competition competing for the trade they have paid a retainer for.

It all just feels stale, like more of the same when we need change. It’s a shame because they’re competing with some decent pubs near the ground and to compete they need to up their game a bit. Last time I had a pint in the suites the choice was poor and the pint was shite - one of those struggle-to-swallow affairs. Add to that the fact that it wasn’t cheap and it was the last pint I ever bought in the ground. I’d like to be encouraged back and was hoping I would be. If I drink at the game next season it won’t be at the ground sadly.

Takes ages to pull a pint. What's wrong with having a selection of bottles.

Bottles are fine but it’s nowhere near as nice as a properly pulled pint of good beer.

As Hoochy alluded to, if there was an offer of say a mixed starter, which are cheap and easy to produce/sell and a bottle of say kingfisher, then I'd happily go with that. And that kinda goes against the points I was making but I think the majority of fans either don't want that or would rather drink in the pub beforehand for more of an authentic atmosphere. Most away games I go to it's usually pub till about 15 minutes before kickoff rather than use the ground facilities.

It's also he fact at VP you have to queue for fucking ages, while not needing skilled staff the people they do employ are just plucked off the street and many obviously hate what they do - and it's been like that for over 20 bloody years. It's things like, if they did get some local suppliers and products on offer I'd be more prepared to spend money to support them rather than buy mass produced piss and shit to fund some big company paying dogshit wages for a few hours a week to temp staff. I don't get why for about 15 years there's been a desire - at the club - to improve the food, drink and service but it's never actually changed.

I don't get why anyone would pay actual money to drink Carling, but they do, even in the pretty good pub near me that normally has six cask ales and two decent lagers on. People are weird. It's a shame we won't see Staropramen and Blue Moon on the concourse, you'd think Molson Coors would give us a variety of their brands. That said, I'd still always rather stop in the Dolly or the bars on North Parade.

Just me or will you not be able to see a thing if you're on the back row in there?

Just me or will you not be able to see a thing if you're on the back row in there? Nice seats, but the canopies look a bit garish and obtrusive imho. Surely a transparent or foldable canopy been better? Can't help but feel the first few rows of the Main Stand will have an obstructed view.

It's two metal structures with some viny wrap and some racing seats. It's an improvement but hardly ground breaking. Would be nice if they just told us who the signings were and what the kit looks like instead of holding back like some sort of xfactor reveal. We're league 2 FFS not a champions league side.

That makes them look new again but surely they'll still be as brittle as they were before after a decade in the elements.
