Amazing what a difference a lick of paint can do...

That black paint is a hell of an improvement.
Those seats though...unless the whole ground is being done it'll look fucking daft.

Looks a lot better than it has for the last 30 years. Get rid of the moss on the steps and concrete and the plastic bus shelter and it might be less embarrassing. It’s a good sign that the boy Sparks isn’t accepting the stadium looking like nobody has given a shit for 20 years, hopefully the attitude of not accepting mediocrity will spread through the rest of the club. Anyway, if SparksY knew what’s what, he’d have known that grey rendering with anthracite window frames and lots of external lighting is more 2021 than some black hammerite.

Fucking anthracite, sick to death of that colour. Just doing a kitchen and it's fucking dark grey. Same as the windows I did a few weeks back, people are obsessed with it. To be fair I like what Sparks is doing with little budget, shame the outside of those offices looks even worse than what the inside of VP did.

He’s the first CEO in a while who’s showing anything like a sense of ‘ambition’ or investment in improving any element of the club and its approach. He’ll need time to show whether he can deliver results, but he’s doing more right than wrong so far.

Be nice if they could fuck off that smoking shelter that’s down there too. Not even sure what its for. Same with those corrugated metal sheds behind. Surely there is acres of space in the main stand that could be used for storage?

Personally I don’t think he would admit to it but i bet he comes on here and reads what we say takes notice. He secretly likes us because he knows it’s fans like us that will drive him on to get it right. That being said I’d happily take a shit ugly ground if we’re winning leagues and flying up the pyramid, but so far so good this close season

They're quick wins aren't they? Like the kind of marketing / social media activity Mason used to do - that was cheap, if not free, but because it was so lacking in those areas anything was an immediate improvement.
It's cosmetic at the moment - yeah, doesn't get you any points - but it makes you feel that bit better about where you are. I know the stadium isn't going to be state of the art, but we were bordering on the being the football ground equivalent of that house that has a fridge in the garden and whose dogs are free to shit all over. It's like the standard of food and drink / serving times - everyone knows it's shit, it has been for decades. But it's so bad its just recognised as part of the club - crap quality and waiting 20 minutes to get served - and people account for it. They eat and drink outside the ground or bring their own stuff because they know its awful.
If it looks alright, feels alright, you'll want to be in there longer / spend more money in it. When parts of the ground are as ramshackle as it is - we all know how awful the toilets are - why the fuck would you want to spend any time or money in it?

The fact that corner had been left to deteriorate with no thought for maintenance or cosmetic improvement symbolises Junior's entire tenure - just get behind the moss and algae covered set of scruffy steps and smoking shelter and a random fucking garden shed for fucks sake. #jgbtmaacsossassaarfgsffs The club can borrow my Karcher to clean the steps next if they want. The addition of those photos in the players entrance is the same. Really fucking piss easy and obvious things that should have been done years ago. Sparks is right about the McCall Hendrie suites too. Last game I went to was that Plymouth one, went in there and it was like a fucking travelodge function room, zero character or effort expended on it. Why on earth did we expect any professionalism or attention to detail in the playing side of things when it was there in front of us how little of that approach was applied to the stadium? This shit won't win games but it sets the tone, starts things off on the right foot.

This shit won't win games but it sets the tone, starts things off on the right foot. We've been banging on about this very stuff for years yet apparently to some it wasn't important. It's professionalism and attention to detail off the field that shows just what your approach to on the field is like. No surprise the stadiums falling to bits when our strategy to on field matters was non existent. We've always joked a bout hit water in the toilets but fuck me stuff like that should be a given in the 21st century. Although I guess some of our fans would be happy to still have an outside shithole at home.

Fair fucks, the social media has improved year on year too.
I don't know if those seats are claret and amber though, but i think Sparks' genius is to let the sun bleach them down to claret and amber over time. smart, innovating cunt.
