Sky letting snotty, little rat boy have his working class hero moment because they haven’t got the rights to it and it’ll devalue their product:
They helped sow the seeds for this.

People scoffing and listing all the trophies other teams have won since some of those teams won anything. Not about trophies or history though - it's brand power. Those teams have been building it across the globe for years and is more powerful than a new team winning the trophy. I used to watch a lot of American wrestling as a kid. Every territory had its own promotion, sometimes they worked together but they knew where the boundaries were. To cut it short in the 1980s the then started to gobble up the promotions and look at it as an industry now - dominated soley by the WWE, rival business pose no threat and the product they put out is fat, bloated and soulless. They call it 'sports entertainment' - a travelling, choreographed show that goes around the world. That's what this super league is going to turn into.

To me this is an action just for the greedy to get richer. Its not to replace their league statuses but the current champions league set up. That will still taint the league though because of the money involved, all the teams would have their "b teams" in the league. My problem is what gives these cunts the right to dictate to anyone. I mean even Tottenham!!! Leicester have evolved to be consistently better than them.
The time has come to take league membership away from them all and if they want back in they have to start again with the likes of Bury. Fuck em

It’s scandalous. Rich cunts wanting to be even richer and not caring about being even bigger cunts in the process.
Punish the fucking lot.

I wish they’d just fucking go. Call their bluff. The big clubs are the problem, and everybody’s pretending they’re gonna be part of the solution.
It’ll be shit anyway, Liverpool have played Real Madrid about 40 times in the last few years, nobody cares anymore.
Even the Thai Liverpool fans understand footballs about tribalism, not playing PSG a million times.

Existing fans of the ESL clubs are legacy fans apparently. The ESL is intended to focus on fans of the future, in other words, fuck off we can make more money from fans in Shanghai, Hanoi, Lagos and Durban than we can from you plebs who grew up 500 yards from the stadium.
They’ll get £250m a year more income to spend hoovering up any talented kid, not playing them and then bleating about needing C teams to play all their players, the B team being the one that plays Burnley on Saturday before the first team plays Real Madrid for the 3rd time in three months on Tuesday.
Actually this reminds me of the Hundred, a completely pointless tournament nobody wanted which devalues county cricket.
Facebook or Amazon will be behind it, £25 a game PPV and £400 for an Oculus headset to watch from the best seat in the stadium.

That’s why the threat of kicking the clubs from domestic competitions might not be enough to make this idea dead in the water. The fans can revolt, boycott, all the usual shit but it won’t matter if they’re targeting a whole new audience anyway. The clubs have become their brands and that’s what’s currently being sold to the highest bidder. There’s going to be a huge rebalancing of the domestic game though since much of the revenue comes from Sky subscriptions which won’t be worth as much without the ‘big six’. Wages will take a hit and some clubs may go to the wall in the short term. In the longer term though, football might end up better off. It’s long since lost its way and this might set what’s left back on the right track a bit.

The top six is almost a closed shop, Leicester do their best and there is a West Ham or Everton who have a good season once in a while, the rest of the PL is either spending loads for mid table mediocrity, Villa, or a yo yo club like Albion, Fulham, Norwich and Swansea. Meanwhile the championship clubs lose £10m a week between them chasing the dream. It needs rebalancing, for every Sheffield United who make it, it’s not really feasible for Bolton or City to get back there without blowing tens or hundreds of millions, that’s not right. The legacy fans don’t matter, PL football is stupidly expensive, but at worst you’re a Newcastle fan on the train or car share to Southampton or Brighton, weekend by the sea with your mates or family in a Travel Inn and even at British Rail prices it’s not that bad. ESL? Return flights to Madrid for you all, shite post Brexit exchange rate, hotels banging the prices up and £200 each to get in. It’s ok once or twice a season, nobody is doing that every game unless you’re retired and loaded.

Man United v Real Madrid, live from the Arsebowl Stadium in Abu Dhabi, a modern, state of the art stadium in which only 3000 people died during construction. They’ll all take a knee though, just to show solidarity innit.

Im willing to bet they’ll take games to the Far and Middle East and maybe America to maximise revenue. Clubs started well over a hundred years ago out of their communities and followed by generations will be reduced to a travelling roadshow. It’ll be little more than an exhibition, a tourist attraction. The Harlem fucking Globetrotters.

Proper, franchise football, that’s completely divorced from the historical, emotional attachment that local fans have for their clubs. The jobs fucked. I hope they all die on their arse. It’s what they deserve.

I don’t reckon 4000 people in the desert are gonna make the same atmosphere as a Merseyside derby at goodison

Unless this is all a cover to make the champions league revamp seem more reasonable, even though everyone wants it smaller and straight knock out.

The level of greed of the English clubs is the worst of the lot. Barcelona are fucked and pretty much bankrupt so this is a lifeline for them. The Italian clubs are playing in a shit league with such low revenue that any clubs that perform well in the Champions League go on to easily dominate their domestic league. Money wise it makes more sense for them. The English clubs on the other hand are already playing in the richest league in the world and generally do well out of European competition. They’re already raking it in but want more and are prepared to completely shit on their own fans in pursuit of it.

Their major sports are all franchise based, they’re implementing what they know in the pursuit of the mighty dollar. They have no concept of the traditions and emotions of what this game means in this country. They simply don’t give a fuck.

This would be a good time for some of you two club wankers to renounce your attachment to your Greedy League club. I won't renounce it because as much as I like Liverpool they don't affect my life to that extent. I think they should genuinely be thrown out of the football league but they won't and this new league won't happen.

According to Sky the deal’s done and going ahead but I must admit I find it hard to believe it’s actually going through. Apparently some of the remaining fourteen clubs are already on the backs of the Premier League and the FA to get them suspended immediately regardless. Could be fun.
