I mean going on twitter and seeing the City badge flanked by a homosexual political statement. I'm a Christian and I don't believe in it but people can do what they want. For me, football is an escape from the shit that is going on in life and to have this rammed down my throat is excluding me. I feel the 'other' and I shouldn't having supported this club well before Sparks was born. If he wants to promote his own beliefs he should do it ion his own account and not uses BCFC as a vehicle to express his desires. Keep the badge sacred. I bet he wouldn't put the poppy on it. You're entitled to your religious views. You're not entitled to enforce your narrow minded beliefs on other people, via this board. Religion has caused far more harm to this world than Homosexuality ever has, or will.

It’s devastating I can tell you.

Why piss anyone off? We all support Bradford City. I know one group of people who will not touch City with a barge poll while Sparks promotes this cause. Mr Rupp would love to see more of our Muslim friends embracing the club I'm sure. Our crowds would be fantastic! Who knows what Sparks is up to?

My brother happens to be homosexual, are you saying he shouldn't be welcome at Bradford City because of his sexual persuasion? Because if you are you are wrong and the conversation ends here.

Maybe I would, and I might put the rainbow symbol all over my Twitter profile. But as a public servant I would not use my employee's twitter account as I would not want to bring my personal beliefs into the public sphere. This conversation would not be taking place if the BCFC badge was not being manipulated by Sparks.

Its a message of inclusion, of treating everybody as equals, of love and tolerance. You can't 'promote' sexuality you idiot. People don't choose it, its just who you are. By nature. The only thing Ryan Sparks is trying to promote, is this football club. And as you know, we don't tolerate homophobia or racism, so whilst you're free to air your views on here, choose your wards carefully, because those are 2 subjects we don't fuck about with.

Absolutely not and I would defend your brother to the hilt if anyone said anything bad to him. I'm sorry if I have come across this way. Inclusive should mean not to highlight differences. But I just want to read about city on Twitter without the Rainbow symbol or BLM, Brexit, Trump, Corbyn, anything at all. Just Bradford City. It is after all what brings us together.

Sparks isn't a public servant, and he's the boss so he can do it if he wants. If a rainbow upsets you so much you need to consider your life choices.
Also, the rainbow's also being widely used to show support to key workers. If the thought of homosexuality gives you a tingle, imagine it's clapping for our carers instead <3
There's an argument about the worth of these symbols, but getting offended by a rainbow? Haway.

Your argument against sybolism regarding rainbow flags and the like does warrant a fair discussion regarding the merits of virtue signalling but should be more of a general chat thread. Bradford City as an organisation has to promote all inclusiveness in its itinery as any business or organisation should, we are after all living in the 21st century. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your individual views that sees the use or more signals and symbols. To be fair my brother isn't that keen on the rainbow stuff, he just wants to be able to live his life like anyone else does.

No-ones making anyone taste cock. FFS - why is this a thing on the new manager thread?
If it helps in anyway to reduce the stigma that is associated with football / Bradford City, that gay people aren't welcome, will be abused, can't even play etc. then great.
Yeah, I know gay people who've have their heads kicked in because they've done something as shocking as hold hands with their partners. That's why a lot of gay, trans or whatever else are wary of activities many of us take for granted, because that bigotry still exists.
Let's say if you ever meet a gay person and say you're a football fan - especially if you're a sterotype big meathead white bloke with a bald head - they might assume you might be an active homophobe, right wing Brexit voter, anti-islam type etc. when you're probably far from it
The flag works both ways - everyone is welcome, and everyone already here is welcoming. It's been hijacked as a marketing tool in recent years, I'll give you that - but football does have a racist issue which many are talking about, but homophobia doesn't get mentioned in the same context.

This conversation would not be taking place if the BCFC badge was not being manipulated by Sparks. Based on your posts so far, you appear to have joined this forum with the main intent of pushing your anti-inclusion, in particular anti-LGBT etc, position and are trying to get some sort of reaction. The reaction you have received has been fair and measured. Thats not how we view things round here, and whilst as a christian you are entitled to your view, we don't share it. Might I suggest you start your own forum for christian City fans? Or do as you have already suggested and write to the club directly. And another helpful hint, if you plan on sticking around, stop hijacking threads about unrelated matters and start specific threads about the subject you wish to discuss. Saves us having this conversation here when we should be talking about a well deserved appointment for Trueman and Sellars, and hopefully exciting times ahead.

Worth mentioning too that the rainbow flag has been flying proudly at the back of A block at VP for years by the way, long before it was de rigueur for a football club to be openly supportive of those communities.
Something which the club deserves credit for.
