All for it in principle, obviously but time will tell with regard to the application.
It is a bit worrying though that the new guy is now talking about ‘one or two players’ being the target. We need four as a bare minimum.
It’ll be an interesting window to watch though given it should be more targeted, crucial to our future and to simply see what numbers we recruit.

We need five. CB, RB, CM, winger, striker.
It’s pissing me off how the narrative RE what we need has changed from the club and the Gompers just because of four games.
I’d happily boot out BRE, DMH and Guthrie too.

The current squad have set consistent, excruciatingly low standards of performance this season.
The last 4 games have been an improvement but do not excuse the previous 16 and we've seen how pathetic we are up front if Novak is unavailable.
We cannot afford a repeat of 2018 where they brightened up in December then reverted to utter shite for the run in.
We don't owe most of the playing squad anything at the moment. And we have to do our utmost to get rid of the absolute shittest we have.

Maybe we need a keeper too now that ODonnell is injured.

“He’s already speaking to us about players who are going to improve this group. That’s key and they’ve obviously got to be the right characters. “It’s a good group we’ve got in the building so we’ve got to keep adding to it and maybe give us something a bit different.” It’s like Greg Abbott’s best transfer catchphrase bingo in there!

Our approach to recruitment is already much better now than it was in the summer. Actively Identifying our own targets might be the bare minimum but it’s still worlds apart from signing average ex players already in the managers phone book or relying on agents to recommend us a few lads.
Not saying it’ll work, but at least we’ve now given ourselves half a chance.

Not saying it’ll work, but at least we’ve now given ourselves half a chance. Our purview is so ridiculously small when it consists purely of the manager’s contacts. Doing what proper clubs do and opening it up to the whole football league and non league is so obvious it’s ridiculous that it needed a bunch of onion picklers to point it out. Hopefully Turnbull is a better judge of horseflesh than he is a talker though because he sounds a bit dopey to me.

Two players who should never have been in the squad never mind making first team appearances. That McCall either couldn’t see it or refused to act on what he saw out of blind loyalty says as much about his ability to be a manager as anything else he did. Dropping shit players where possible is about the most basic of managerial fundamentals and he wouldn’t do it.

McCall could tow the club line and shit on Vaughan when he was out the door but couldn't say no to DMH and KG - an approach which helped lead to his demise.
Even if small steps, at least it looks like people have accepted we've been backwards for far too long. The transfer activity of 2020 coupled with languishing in 23rd place have been the catalyst in realising that we, a professional football team, could well be non-league if we don't change things from the current trajectory.
It's like we're that member of the family who flat out refuses to have any kind of technology and have been perfectly happy with their old Nokia 3210, then one day grudgingly realises it's not 1996 anymore.

Players that have left = shit and we don’t want them. Players under contract who are shit and we really don’t want = jgbtlffs You’re making a solid case for McCall being a gomper here. Further evidence, if any were needed, that the gomper mentality gets you nowhere but down.

I’d love to see us pulling some really obscure names from places like League One reserve teams or non league. Even if they’re shit it’d at least mean we’re doing more research and casting a wider net. Even though it’d amount to the same result it’d make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside as a flicker of hope came back.

Probably won't happen, but the link to Jack Diamond is more positive than we'd usually get. Good age, position we need, performed well on loan in the National League last season.

Was he the lad at Notts County on loan from Sunderland or somewhere like that I saw it on BT. From Tyneside, who tbf is pretty good. Might be bollocks though. Was on loan at Harrogate last season I believe,

I don't want to gomp, but how they have acted to freeze out BRE and DMH is good to see. Rather than defend the dross like McCall did, they've identified them as the weak links and are actively trying to shove them out of the door. The talk is Greg Abbott bullshit bingo, but behind it there's at least an idea they know what they want. I hope. January is going to see Hanson back isn't it.

January is the first real opportunity for Sparks, Turnbull and T&S to show that their words will be backed by the right sort of action. It'll be interesting viewing.

It'll be interesting viewing. 1 day to go and we've flushed some shite. Surely another one or two in tomorrow after today's departures. If that's at least 1 proper 1st team player then it's been our best January since I can remember.
