He was sending DMs alluding to ambition for the season? And we've been served up with the rubbish we have so far? Wow. And they wonder why iFolllw sales are low. Was it talk of Rupp buying VP, good budgets, proper backroom set up and all that? Haven’t even spent the full salary cap have we unless Evans and Samuels are on £200k each Something stinks. Its almost as if certain people connected with the club actively lobby against progress. Sandal wearing crusties who think we're an 'authentic' community football club. The football club equivilent of a micro brewery. To the masses it just tastes like unpalatable shit. To the crusties, the masses are too unsophisticated to appreciate the delights of authentic craft ale. God forbid, if ever an owner wanted to invest and get the club to where the real money is, the crusties would bemoan the club 'selling its soul' and 'abandoning' it's roots.

There was an interview early on (possibly pre-season) and someone asked McCall if he'd been given promotion as a target and he just laughed it off and said "not at all". I reckon Rhodes has given him a target of spending as little cash as possible and maybe told him to try not to relegate us to non-league.
We might not have budgeted for a top three challenge this season but I still reckon the budget we did have has been badly spent. Signing Clarke was a mistake, as was keeping Guthrie, and then there's DMH. Can't comment on the new players as all I've seen of them is about ten minutes of 'highlights' on Youtube (no way I'm paying to watch this squad on ifollow). The errors in recruitment are clear to anyone who's seen Billy, Kurtis and Dylan play before.

McCalls a competent if limited lower league manager. With adequate players he’ll get the team playing alright passing football. No fucker could do owt with this shower though.
It’s hard to get mad at the players either, they’re just as shit as they are. It’s really but their fault, why would we expect them to be any better than they are.
The problems elsewhere, but this looks like the end for McCall.

If McCall leaves then Brown Bottle obviously goes with him so who’d be mom in temporary charge? Drury?

Kenny and his trainers hung around last time didn't they? Might be him and Drury taking charge till we find some mug daft enough to take over.

Big mistake coming back for a third go here. Never should have picked up the phone to Julian. #RIP Stuart's career. U are wiv da angels now Wtf was he thinking? He must have been privy to the general state of affairs and utterly carnage going on behind the scenes, why come back into even more difficult circumstances that before? If he leaves this time his career is dead and buried. Next stop would be one of those teams in somewhere like Cambodia or Thailand.

It was lazy and the only people who benefitted were Rupp and Rhodes. You're right, he shouldn't. Aside from getting lucky with Parky and finding a boring but competent manager who could drag us out of the khazi league, has Rhodes ever picked the right man for the job in the best part of 20 years? Was Bowyer a Julian pick? Giving Wetherall the job of keeping us in league 1 didn't go too well. Who are the others? Law, Robson, Todd, Taylor, Jackson, and McCall three times (I'm counting the second spell as Julian's pick as he was the consultant who told Rahic to get Bring Him Home when Parky walked).

One of the key things about leadership is being smart enough to know what you don’t know. Julian needs a director of football to appoint the manager and set the strategy for the football side. Leave him to run the financial side.

City fans are far to sentimental and part of the problem.
Your missed places love for McCall is just fucking shite. As bad as the happy clappers.
McCall is a shit manager always has been always will be.
The 1st appointment, I get it, we needed a lift. But the cracks stared to show.
Second time... got lucky with Parkinson's team. But after Wembley the cracks started to show again.. the edin factor kind of gets a bye.
This time, a 3rd time... first game.. before a fucking ball is kick stuart is repeating himself, making the same mistakes again.
I've no time for sentiment.. McCall can fuck off for all I care. Christ he cant pull off a decent Scottish accent.. fucking fraud.

McCall has become the managerial joke equivalent on the signings we were taking the piss out of.
Knows the club, cheap, 'can still do a job', in the chairman's contact book, can't be arsed to scout any further, lives local...
He inherited crap but has brought in crap as well. I don't know what his tactics or overall approach is supposed to be, regardless of a lack of pre season, and at the same time who is he supposed to be building the side around? He isn't - it's all over the place.
If you were to ask any fan what our strengths or threats are, honestly, does anyone have anything to say? Name a stand out player, or a stand out threat. There isn't one. Novak has a few goals. Does that count?

Had a look at some free agents I feel would add to this club, whether we could make some figures on these work and attract to League 2 might be another matter.
Kevin Stewart and Jackson Irvine released by Hull. Danny Rowe released by Ipswich. Josh Clarke released by Brentford and agreed to leave Wigan. Bambo Diaby released from Barnsley (Bambo number 5, instant winner) Richard Nartey released from Chelsea (spent last season at Burton) Collin Quaner released by Huddersfield Ben Heneghan and Nathan Thomas released by Sheff Utd Anthony Wordsworth released by Wimbledon Kieran Lee released by Sheff Wed
And we hear from Stuart nobody is there to be considered an improvement.

I'd take Rowe and Thomas. Two wingers with a bit of pace and flair are an absolute necessity.

I do have some sympathy for Stuart in that he obviously hasn't been given whats needed or is in a setup in terms of staff that is near the standard of profession football.
Lack of backroom staff just follows from Bowyer not having an assistant - is that really how professional sides are supposed to function, even pre covid? But as for the player recruitment im general and lack of spending when money was available... its often been the case with us, and has been done to death. On the cheap, players mates, replacing good players who left with shit... we were told to not panic, relax - everything would be okay and we would be able to compete. But despite all the positivity, we all knew it would be embarrassing and unfortunately its turned out that way.
I've been in a similar situation at work. I manage a small team who hate their jobs and hate me - I haven't been given anywhere near the right type of tools or support to get the job done and have to firefight in a number of jobs that I shouldn't have to be doing. And everything suffers because of it. I've told my managers its a shit set up and they're not bothered. So I'm looking to leave as soon as I can - sticking around in that sort of environment when you're up against everything just isn't worth it, wether it's an office or a football club.
