Is it too early for a must win? I don't think so, they were the worst team by far last year and don't seem to have improved at all. We may be without our 2 cbs but they've not been great so far anyway. If we don't beat these it's going to be a long old season of struggle.
2-1 win it has to be

We need that legaue win. Every week without one will crank up the pressure, and if we can't beat or god forbid lose to them the anger will intensify.
They couldn't have improved much since last season surely? They were absolute dogshit and only survived on a technicality. But if we've got a patched up back line you could see them exploiting it.

If you don't win at home to Stevenage don't even think about promotion.

We've gone way too early with this thread. I enjoy getting through the week without being reminded that we have another game coming up FFS.

Surely Stuart adopts a back 4 for this game, midfield probably a diamond, means he can play Clarke, Watt and Cooke.
Imagine Sutton at right back and BRE and Sikora/Cousin-Dawson at the back.
Gonna be goals, not necessarily for us

Clarke at left back, Wood up front, BRE in goal, Sikora at fly half. A revolutionary 123211 system to combat a lad they have in centre midfield who has a really hard shot.

I was assuming it would be their forward line that we are to worry about. I mean seriously can you imagine how sharp they must look in training to have been able to keep guthsy out of their starting 11 last year.

The result is not important, what is important is that we see this season out with a club to support. That would be like a promotion in the current climate.

The amazing thing is, Guthers scored 5 of their 24 league goals last season, he was their joint top scorer in the league.

It's going to be interesting how he lines up the defence, not sure what i'd be most happy with to be fair at this point. Sutton, French, Sikora, BRE, Wood maybe? Either that or just go with a four and accept that the defence isn't going to be great anyway, regardless of how many bodies we chuck in there.
Fuck it, stick Novak back there again - he did a surprisingly decent job compared to some of the defensive masterclasses we've seen in the last 3 years or so.

We've had almost a(nother) week to get in a proper right back which would free up French to play CB with BRE for a match.
Stuart needs to start staring at his phone harder all afternoon, hoping it rings.

I think the main issue is the excuse has been that we're waiting for the 'right' player rather than just bringing anybody in but the later it gets, the less confident you are that we'll still be holding out for the 'right' player. Eventually the time will come when we do just have to fill the gap regardless and at that point it'll be the feeling of "well, we could have just done that 6 weeks ago".
I'd forgive the long wait if we really pulled it out of the bag late on but if (most probably when) we sign a player who'd of been available weeks ago, it'll just feel like a lot of time has been wasted.

They’re selling off all the old kit on eBay, they’re not pulling anything out of the bag. It’s going to be rummaging around in the bottom of the bag at best
