We're going to break Stuart for the 3rd time. I think this one is going to end the worst of the lot. We’re so far short he hasn’t a hope and yet he can’t help circling the wagons and defending players and others who are going to take a steaming shit on his legacy. He’s the only guy down there who cares about the club doing well, trying to motivate everyone else who either cares solely about their careers, sees it as a hobby or just plain don’t care. This isn’t just his last crack with us, it’ll be his last job in management and it’s going to end spectacularly badly. We’re going to be his beginning and his spectacular end. It’s not something I’d pay to watch.

Any of you watch us when we lost 5-0 at Notts County? You had people try to write it off afterwards as being the first game of the season, up against an expensive squad etc.
But if you actually saw the game you knew the team was doomed that's seaso. So far off the pace and lacking in quality you knew then it wouldn't happen - Thorne's legs had gone, and we had the likes of Rehman, Matt Clarke, Eastwood, Boulding...
And I remember on the way back people livid, saying the third season of McCall in charge and he was still setting up and playing the same way, still lacking leaders and commitment
The point is, you knew after one game it was the same again from Stuart and the same from his players. Nothing really changed from before, or looked like trying to change.
It was a few months after he came over to speak to us at Dagenham, and you knew then it wasn't working and the upcoming summer really was last chance saloon to get it right. This time around he only had the one transfer window but it looks like history might repeat itself.

None of this makes me angry at stuart who yet again is being sold down the river by piss poor ownership. no wonder rhodes never wants to talk to the press I wouldn't show my face either I like Stuart as much as the next guy (with the exception of Ricc) but I don’t see anything in his record to suggest he’s anything better than distinctly average as a manager. We’ll never put the debate to bed though as long as he’s handed an iPad and told to get on with it. Stuart’s strengths are in coaching and creating a happy camp based on trust, loyalty and team spirit. Having the kind of setup that takes as much of everything else out of his hands as possible would give him the best chance of getting the success everyone would dearly love him to achieve. What he’s got here is a skeleton staff of inexperienced young employees cutting their teeth, headed up by an absent chairman and a stale, reluctant CEO who hasn’t had a fresh idea since he decided to install an office futon. We seem to be doubling down on what’s always failed us in relying solely on the manager’s contacts, handing him the budget, seeing where we go then pinning it all on the manager when it fails. It’s what I’d do if I just wanted a job so I could pay the milkman and I was a shivering coward who wanted no responsibility or comeback. Shoving the patsy out front might work fine when it’s Grayson or Hopkin but it’s a dangerous game when it’s McCall. Fans might start waking up when they see him bumbling clumsily around and falling over because someone’s tied his shoelaces together.

We're fucked lads. Absolutely fucked. We will still have a club and somewhere to go for a drink with our mates when we're too scared to tell our wives we want to go on the town....be grateful
