First real game in 8 days now, no sign of any incomings 4-1 defeat with a Doyle Hat Trick and a week of 6 fingered Lancastrian sister shaggers invading our social media.
Great start

We’ll still be gelling in ways Bolton already have. 3-1 to them.

It will give us a good idea of where this squad actually is in terms of development.

I've just remembered, McCall has a pretty dire record in terms of cup results for us. A quick google says 5 first round defeats out of 5 in the League Cup.
Depends how he sets up - Does he take it seriously due to the lack of friendlies / opportunities for fitness, or does he hold back and not take risksas he has done in years past, usually protecting anyone with any kind of minor niggle?
Would selection impact the EFL Trophy rules a few days later? With small squad - and probably with gaps - how much does he push it?
Bolton are probably better prepped and settled for the start of the season. 3-0 to them.

2-0 loss.
No shots on target for City and 1 corner when their defender booted it against a team mates arse for a laugh.

Dunno what to make of Bolton. Like their manager and their approach to recruitment. However, they've signed an awful lot of unproven players from non league which can go either way. But most of their signings have been focused on pace and athleticism.
We on the other hand, are as mobile as an oil tanker and town showed us we can't cope with a young athletic side. 3-1 them.

I reckon they'll score at least 3 or 4. Their squad completely eclipses ours in terms of quality, and you just know Doyle is gonna play his arse off cos' its us. He'll bag 1 at least and McCall will still be saying he's happy with the squad and effort 🙈

Unproven at league level, but their manager knows non-league well. If his recruitment technique is as good as he says it is, we're fucked.

And not forgetting, league 2 is basically non league now anyway.

Bolton beating us would wake up the those in charge and McCall as to how immobile we are and I'd expect a signing or 2 as a result of dickings to Bolton and Donny.

It'll be shit, we'll be soundly beaten, and the usual fucks will have the usual excuses ready. Expect 'Norwich lost 7-1 on the opening day a few years ago and won the league' to feature.

3-2 to city. I have no idea why but I like to go against the grain. We are shite but Bolton are still a basket case, if they don't repay 3.5m by next year, they get 15point deduction. Doyle to score 2 for them, Donno and Cooke for us with McCall coming on in the last minute to score the winner iwht a bullet header.

I'm dreading this game more by the day The best thing that could happen is that we get destroyed and all our failings are laid bare and become undeniable. If we fudge a draw or somehow squeak a win it’ll give the club and our more docile fans the chance so point and tell everyone how we don’t need to get a move on after all and our hamfisted approach to recruitment isn’t the problem it’s been made out to be. Our squad’s just fine you see; Bolton are favourites for our league etc etc. Let’s get bummed in a lesser cup game and the learning experience isn’t as expensive as wasting precious league points.

We won’t play a team as good as Bolton every week.
