There is a rumour going around online that Guthrie is actually a professional football player despite what he looked like in his cameos last season
With all this lockdown stopping anyone seeing these friendlies it is hard to verify if this is just elaborate fake news though
Has anyone heard anything to substantiate these rumours or do we just pass it off as a load of gomp?

I'm sure Stevenage who were fighting for their lives let him go because he was far too good despite being in and out of their first team. And he showed in the games he played why they let him go. Obviously the gompers defend such utter shite but everyone can change and can be trained it just depends on their attitude. Reading about him from Stevenage fans he has the ability to play but also has the bad attitude.... we all know how that's pans out at City.

Looking at his playing career he’s neither here or there. Will get you 10 goals a season.

Barely seen anything of him but what there was didn’t look promising.

And we didn't really see much of Marshall before he came. Stuart is one of the lads always has been always will be and that's why players like him. I'm still to see evidence of him coaching any player to be better than they were apart from Marshall.

To be fair the spells he's been here have hardly been conducive to making players better because of circumstances aroud the club at the time he was manager. We were a basket case of a club when he first came and he was doing well with an average squad in his second spell until Rahic's constant interference eventually saw succumb to the inevitable.

It wasn't that he was shit under Parky, he simply didn't play. He convinced him to stay and played him. Managerial masterclass.

Agree not sure he improved Marshall but he definitely got the best out of Devine and the Yorkshire Cafu. They’ve both declined since.

As for Guthrie it’s hard to be certain with the small time I’ve seen from him but with his record I’d be surprised if he broke double figures.

Totally agree but I'd still suggest that a good coach would improve at least 2 or 3. I strongly believe if he fails to get to the play offs this season it's the end of his career as a manager and all he has to show for it is putting his arms around Mark Marshall. I genuinely hope he's successful though, of all people I want to win something with us it's him.

Can't disagree with that, what i would say is as a club we are not set up to make players better, we don't have the infrastructure, coaches or strategy say what the likes of Exeter have, a club at our level. Our two biggest transfers of recent times, Wells and McBurnie, were made better elsewhere. If anything we would have ruined McBurnie and Wells basically made most of his golas on his own. What McCall does do well is motivation, players do respond to his management style better than his wayward tactics at times. Most if not all of our best players who have improved have been loan signings, more due to their parent clubs having good coaching set ups. and being able to attract the better youngsters at an early age.
