Given we’ve only got one actual striker this might be the best option. Not if/when that striker leaves and we have to play one of the other useless impersonators up there instead. Saw someone saying on Twitter that if Vaughan goes then we’ll need to replace him with a 20 goal a season striker. All very good in principle and we know that they’re so easy to come by dont we?! This is the problem. We let Vaughan go and we’re fucked.

I’m glad we’ve signed him, but what does this mean for the eternal Billy Clarke problem? Cooke should take the attacking slot of a 2 man pairing, rendering Clarke a bit pointless. Unless they actually intend to play him as a striker? Assuming we’re doing a basic four four fucking two type scenario. he'll play behind the striker whoever that is, with Cooke and most likely Watt in behind. That’s exactly what I’m worried about.

Good to hear. Round pegs in round holes hopefully this season.

That’s good but it almost certainly means ol Clarkesy is going to be deployed in his infamous “in the hole” role which he will doubtless craft many opportunities with his silky smooth moves. Now, I’m no football manager Clive, but I can see two problems with that: 1- we won’t score enough goals 2- we’ll concede too many goals That could be an issue.

Yep...Vaughan going without a suitable replacement and that the defence is pretty much the same one that wilted for the second season in a row won’t cut it. We’ve obviously still got time but I think we are light on the ground and need 3/4 more.
