So sign players on big money now and run them against the cap as players on average money?
That shits all over what Sparks was saying then.

It’s the only they can get it in for this season, the portion of an existing contract starting say before 1st July and over a certain amount is exempt. I think people have been saying this to him on Twitter but he reckons it’s bollocks. I think it’s fair to say it’s not is strong point.

Just goes to show the propaganda outlets would rather do what the club tells them rather than use their own intelligence to think independently.

Just goes to show the propaganda outlets would rather do what the club tells them rather than use their own intelligence to think independently. Also should be noted how the idea that the EFL have ‘moved the goalposts’ didn’t appear until after MacAnthony went public with the details? Ideally he’d have waited until the transfer window shut, then it wouldn’t be our fault again.

Let’s assume Bolton are starting from scratch. Since when have you been able to sign players like Doyle and Sarcevic using a £1.5M budget? You can’t.

‘Hello, Simon? Yeh, it’s Ryan, fuck’s sake, mate help me out’. One thing about this recent dialogue with Sparks and the salary cap is it's shown is it's why a 'Director of Communications' should not be having daily conversations with fans on social media. Oh yeah, of course - then there's no one else to do it. Even so, a 'Director' anywhere should not be doing it. People will say, "oh but whatsisname at Peterborough is always talking to the fans" - yes, because he knows how to control the narrative. The salary cap is out of our control, looks to be a right mess in terms of what has been proposed, what is happened and what knock-on effects it will have and us conducting our business in the way we have and openly discussing the policy as we are makes us look more daft when fans pick everything apart. It's narrative we are not in control of.

Anyone know what happens with clubs relegated from the championship? If there’s no cap there, I’d assume all the players will be on more than the average for L1. So after a couple of years you end up with most clubs with a wage bill of 2.5m playing relegated clubs with an essentially unlimited wage bill. Wonder who’s gonna go up and get in the play off spots every year. I’m really not sure what problem they’re trying to solve here, but they’re opening up much bigger ones.

Imagine if Town had come down with £40m parachute payments and players on PL wages competing with clubs limited to £2.5m? Nonsense.

Love it. Club completely shown up here. Rupps plan to slash the budget and blame a poor squad on the EFL restrictions completely exposed for what it is - money saving.
Look forward to the first T&A article saying how it’s not the clubs fault and it’s EFLs fault for playing silly buggers and that other clubs who were clearly happy to take the “risk” were being reckless Bury impersonaters.
What a set of amateurs, honestly.
