Admin by Xmas when we can't pay the rent. Stuck in league 2 with a salary cap in place. We really are living the dream. How the hell do we build a decent midfield when we're paying peanuts out to players. I'm all for a sensible wage structure but this is just another nail in the coffin.

London wages is an interesting angle. Surely the astronomical cost of living there will put London clubs at a disadvantage if they’re on the same cap. I wonder if they could subsidise their living costs, buy a house and give them it rent free or at a peppercorn while they’re playing, and still come in under the cap? Whoever that rugby union club were that were fiddling have shown it’s fairly easy to get around. I think they were using inflated image rights contracts or something. The rugby club bought houses for the players and gave them businesses for free. They got away with it for a bit, but not forever. Rangers did the inflated image rights, paying players through a convoluted trust, and HMRC got them bankrupted.

Admin by Xmas when we can't pay the rent. Gordon Gibb can go suck my hairy balls, I'd tell him where he can shove his rent and move up to Odsal. The Rugby Football League, who have been left with the shithole since Northern went to Dewsbury, would bite our bloody hands off.

Especially as he's still getting huge rents off us.

He didn't at all, and once we get the evidence or should that be if and allowed to show it then everyone has to come down on jnr with everything they have

Sparks can defend City’s strategy of preemptively abiding by rules as the smart thing to do but he’s going to be lonely soon when he’s rolling out enigmatic graphics to build a bit of new signing excitement before dashing everyone’s hopes with two bob shite that we’ll be desperate to offload in January. He’ll be the only one talking because the inept and the disinterested aren’t exactly forthcoming at the best of times and what we’ve got coming in is going to have them hiding better than Fritzl’s kids.
Make no mistake, mid table would be a major success for us next season.

Fag packet calculations of a £1.5m wage budget is around £28500 a week. You'd imagine that quite a lot of that is already spent on the players we've retained so there won't be any cash for extravagant star signings. We're looking at bang average £800-1000 a week level of player.

I’ve just been reading the twitter convo that’s been going on tonight. Something still doesn’t add up to me.
As for signings, I’d rather us just loan players in if the alternative is signing absolute shite that we’re going to be stuck with on contracts.
At least you know that you can send a loan back.

The idea that you can say, ‘hang on, lads, there might be a rule change coming. Best stick to it now because there’ll be sanctions for anyone breaking them before they do come in’ is ludicrous. It stinks to high heaven of bullshit. There’s no way on God’s green earth that anyone can compel a club to abide by a salary cap before it’s on the statute books. Nor could they punish a club after it becomes a rule for breaching it before it got voted in. A jobbing no win, no fee shyster solicitor who specialises in whiplash claims could win that case before they broke for dinner.

Do U21 players count towards the salary cap?
Will loans count towards the salary cap?

Salford sign Jason Lowe on a 3 year contract. Well past his best days, but another one that won’t be playing for peanuts.

Our recruitment is shite because it seems to be based on Stuart’s contact list and it’s cheap, or our recruitment is shite because the club are rubbing their hands together at not spending a lot and blaming confusion over a salary cap or Covid. Salary cap not implemented they’ll blame the confusion, what were we meant to do? Risk a points deduction, look at Saracens, Bury.

Our recruitment was always going to be shit because a) he doesn't want us to spend and b) because we have no recruitment structure to ensure value for money. Now, he has two ready made excuses in corona and the salary cap which the gompers lap up no questions asked and are just thankful they still have a club.
