From my own perspective wouldn't it be great if football did indeed eat itself. Especially the top level. Watching these netflix and amazon documentaries shows me how little the players really care for the clubs, they are paid fortunes to represent the club and supporters be in truth they don't give a shit. As for the game on TV, i very rarely watch a game. I did used to enjoy the non league stuff on BT maily for how close to grass roots it was but even that got silly with clubs like Salford paying bigger wages than some league 1 clubs. Yep, I'd be all for that. I'd like to see a normalizing of the wages paid to all top sportsman and actors etc. Its fucking scandalous and ultimately its the plebs who foot the bill. I have no problem with footballers being well paid. And the best should do well. But by that, I mean that the upper limit should be around £50K a week and you should only get that if you're very good. The average premiership wage should be around £25K, which means for most footballers at the level you're going to earn several million quid and retire in a very, very healthy position. But its not obscenely wealthy, it still keeps you reasonably grounded and it means football can be accessible to all. £25 for a ticket is more than ample at that level. But it's the same everywhere. Other sports are the same. I went to a corporate do at the British GP last year and the price of the hospitality package was £8K each. Nice meal in a nice marquee, some very testing birds decorating the place and a couple of nice little freebies, but the price was fucking ridiculous. There needs to be a complete reset across society. Thanks Mr Corbyn. We'll be in touch with regards a second interview.

Agree with Neshead and bantam147 and thinking the exact same phrase earlier - it's eating itself. This could be the extinction event that sets football back 30 years, or it could just become a different type of insane beast altogether. A big, big, part of society has seen pro sport for the waste of time and money and false worship a lot of it actually is. It's just an illusion where what you get out of it as a fan isn't really that much - theres no physical / electronic product you get at the end of it. Take the emotions away, the getting pissed or going with your kids etc. and there's not much else to it. Professional sport is just another type of entertainment, but with an even more massive sense of self-entitlement. You'd like to think in the interest of sporting integrity (if theres any left) that if they can't realistically finish the season in a reasonable time then everyone agrees to void it. But the financial power just destroys any integrity that still exists. There's so much economy around it, so much that revolves around money; enormous TV deals, marketing campaigns across the world, not being relegated, promotion to the PL etc. that that is all any decision will be based on - not a shred of sporting or human integrity. There will be all sorts of claims and counter claims from clubs who could go up or down or lose huge amounts of money - a huge Pandora's box of legal warfare. Imaging that going on for years like the West Ham/Sheff Utd row. Going a bit off topic, I follow a couple of survivalists on Youtube - no doomsday freaks or anything, but guys who have normal lives then at the weekends do bushcraft in the middle of nowhere, forage, make their own food / drink, they know how to repair things, are mechanics, use tools etc. The point is watching these guys (who are probably a lot more manly that a lot of others) helps detach yourself a bit from things like professional sport, the entertainment industry and other shallow, materialistic economies that aren't essential to anyone.

Finishing the PL with televised games in empty stadiums would proper fuck it. People watching on their own might accidentally realise that it’s all a load of bollocks without the tribalism, and that’s the whole PL business model up the spout.
I stopped following the top level a few years ago, apart from champions league final and that, and its like a soap opera. Once you’ve lost track of who the characters are it makes no sense and loses all appeal.

Brighton's remaining fixtures are horrendous. Not surprised they're pulling this stunt.
