I keep thinking his posts are yours. Slight difference: he’s a cunt, I’m not. That government petition initiative was a stroke of genius. People sign them, feel like they’ve made a difference then leave it at that. Same as the twats going on marches. They’ve done their bit.

James’ question is a fair one. Gary’s talking shit. Unfortunately unachievable unless everyone in society is working for the common good. The problem with that is that it's just not human nature.

Capitalism - Like a game of monopoly, fun at first but just becomes boring after some spawny cunt buys up all the good shit and everyone else becomes bankrupt Socialism - Lets kill all the rich people. Yay we're all collectively rich now. Yay. Right lets crack on. Shit we killed all the experts. Fuck, we didn't think this through... IMO their is a reason why 'centralism' is the only vaguely stable system humanity has devised. We've already tried the ideological extremes and and it just hasn't worked.

Marches are all well and good, sometimes (not very often) they have an effect. But, these Brexit related marches attract a lot of weirdos, whether for or against, the other ‘side’ pick out the said weirdos and use it for their own propaganda, “hey, look at that idiot singing on a bus” or “the idiot with a Union Jack shouting at a copper”, and that’s it, depending on how you voted, you’re either a mouth frothing racist, or a song singing hippy, when probably it’s the weirdest 5% at either end of the spectrum, but, depending on how you voted, you’re lumped in with said groups. Then I suppose that’s where we’re at now, everything’s a boxing match, pick a side and fight, and in no circumstances should anybody relent a little. It’s fucking depressing.

I’m not naive enough to think that it is, at all. But I think questioning a massive rise in food banks and homelessness is definitely a fair question to ask, especially in a country like ours.

All arguments are treated in the same simple-minded, reductive way now: you’re either a baddie or a goodie. The whole Brexit debate was refreshing at first. Cross party alliances temporarily formed around a single issue. The ridiculous partisan nature of party politics where the content of a person’s words mattered less than the colour of his tie was briefly forgotten. It was energising. Slowly it went the same way as all debates do nowadays. It started with the idea that immigration was highest on the list of leavers’ concerns and from there we were just a short hop to the tried and tested racist/anti racist trope. Once there, that’s when all the weirdos come out.

I’d still prefer to stay. So would I. But I don’t think we should. No deal would be an absolute disaster, but then so would revoking article 50. The best way, IMO, is a deal. But then no fucker can agree on that.

Once there, that’s when all the weirdos come out. Its the way with all debates around this spectrum, there's a good discussion to be had only for it to be drowned out with petty squabbling. For instance the 'you say anti semitic i say islamaphobic.' Same with Brexit, you could write up a Brexit bingo card with the well worn phrases that are used to systematically end discussion stone dead.

Once there, that’s when all the weirdos come out. There still are some odd, odd alliances. You won't be surprised to note that I'm a keen admirer of Gorgeous George Galloway even though he's a meanie, nasty BREXITeer. Seeing him palling up with Farage makes me sick.
