Deal to be completed today, this is some signing and credit has to be given for the last 2 signings.
Now get me Doyle Pringle and another centre half and if Charlie goes another decent striker
I'm off to scrub myself in the shower and cry a little, don't like giving Radish kudos

We've signed a lot of established players for this division who are clearly a step up in quality. What happened to only spending what we earn? In previous seasons, without any windfalls, that's resulted in us bringing in the likes of Alan Sheehan and Jason Kennedy and the board constantly reminding us about budget cuts, including the current regime. Either Rahic/Rupp have though fuck it or we are spending the Wyke money in advance.

We're not paying transfer fees which is a few hundred grand difference straight away.

Its hard to comment with insight unless you know the numbers involved. Looking at Payne and Scannell, they're clearly a step up in the quality of player we've been chasing. But the deals may not be as expensive to us as you'd think. A lot of the time its about contacts.
Teams like Huddersfield are a prime target for us - second year in the Premiership, so they're swimming with cash. They'll also have players who've gone up with them from the championship but who're never going to play in the Premiership. They're also not going to be in huge demand in the championship, as most clubs in that league have rich backers who're chasing players who're premiership quality, but just can't get a game because they're part of inflated squads. So, in the case of Huddersfield, moving the likes of Payne and Scannell on makes absolute sense. They need to free up squad places and writing off a couple of hundred grand in fees and wage contributions in a drop in the ocean. they'll likely be prepared to do it, just to avoid any disharmony in the ranks. And from Payne and Scannell's point of view they'll be eager to pay. If the numbers stack up, having a year in League One where they're likely confident of being able to tear it up, will appeal and may lead to something bigger. Also, they're local, so no need to look at moving. We'll have contacts with Huddersfield, and given our model is now largely about developing and selling younger players, we've probably offered up first dibs on any young players that break through.
So, all told, the deals may not be as expensive to us as you'd think. Similar to Henderson going to Shrewsbury last season - United paid pretty much all his wages as they just wanted him to be tested in playing first team football.
Having the right contacts to sniff out quality deals at value. That's what's needed in this league.
Rahic himself commented on the massive untapped resources at the huge clubs in the north of England. And even when you look past the big Manchester clubs, the recent fortunes of Huddersfield could be to our advantage. Leeds may be another route for us to tap up fringe players.

If he’d backed McCall with some quality 12 months ago he’d probably now be the owner of a Championship club.

If he’d backed McCall with some quality 12 months ago he’d probably now be the owner of a Championship club. Payne to replace Cullen Scannell to replace Marshall McGowan to replace McArdle in the summer instead of Jan O'Donnell in the summer, Doyle as backup and no contracts offered to either of the German clowns A quality striker instead of Poleon A better replacement for Meredith instead of the combined cost of Reeves and Chicksen It was all eminently do-able.

Good point about the contacts. I don't believe we've been spending money left, right and centre. Riley and O'Donnel have taken pay cuts to join us, our best player in Payne is a loan etc but if we look at the bigger picture, this club has been tinpot from a financial point of view under both our previous ones and our current ones. For example, Rahic taking about cutting the wage budget when he arrived, drastically reducing resources last season, a endless list of teams that we can't compete with, signing utter shit who are/were earning next to nothing, talking about cup runs to compete etc Etc. Regardless of how next season turns out and the weaknesses in the current squad, we just seem a million miles away from all that this season. Aberdeen wanted to keep O'Connor and we signed him, Akpan has played most of his career in the Championship and we had the fianancial power to sign him- aswell as Scannel. I reckon it's a combination of willing to pay a little bit more and becoming more shrewd in the transfer market. If only McCall was still manager, we'd boss next season.

I will believe it when I see it. Awful feeling this has a bit of the "he was in the building eating pizza with us" about it.

Where's this guy then?? Fully expect someone like Scunthorpe to fuck us over! Parker has been about 3 to 4 hours behind everyone else when revealing signings, first bit of ITK he thinks he's got for months and he blows his load and goes all in. And still no Scannell. Way to go Parker, you tarnish whats left of your reputation.

Something about this smelled like bullshit from the start. Every other deal - we’ve heard nothing beforehand. The ones that have been bigged up have come to fuck all.
