Sounds like we still have problems in midfield.
Replace Devine with Cooke next game.

Why was Akpan out today? Injured or dropped?

Why was Akpan out today? Injured or dropped? Dropped I think. Bowyer was asked about the injury situation in his pre match press conference and didn't mention him.

Ironically there are more more positives to take from today than the Oldham game, at least the last 20 or so mins. We were shite for about 65 mins but the subs made a huge difference. I’ve tried to defend Devine, on the basis of his first few games under McCall, but after today I have to give up- he’s utter dog shit. Ismail should have been man of the match, changing the impetus of the lacklustre performance. Ref appalling but if we actually stepped up before going 0-1 down other teams wouldn’t be able to dictate play. The win papers over massive cracks, the burning question for me is why we don’t shithouse early in games to gain the initiative, especially if we’re not going to score- we were magnificent at it for the last 10.

I’m glad we won, because at half time it looked grim. They were the worst team at VP I’ve seen this season, yet led us at the break because Paudie made a terrible effort of marking their cunt that scored.
Ismael looked lively. That’s a positive. The sending off was horse shit. I still think our midfield is poor defensively but ultimately they were so atrocious with the ball they failed to threaten other than set pieces.
Honourable mention to Wood who defended very well when a poor Ismael pass dropped him in a 2v1.
Vaughan was really giving it some at full tome in front of the kop. I like that. You wouldn’t have seen Doyle be so happy to win.

Fucking loved that. Sod that we were appalling in the first half, can't beat having a shit team timewaste for 85 minutes and to come back and beat them. Cunts. Ref was dogshit as per. All three wingers looked promising second half. Cooke must surely stsrt next game. I hoped and hoped with Devine but that was fucking garbage from him, not a professional footballer at all. I loved the last 20 minutes. As for Devine, i’m sure on twitter we had people calling us out about our opinion of him. He’s never been good enough, he’s Park Avenue level. yeh but he's one of our own so he understands the club

Wishful thinking meant i gave him more of a chance but he was absolutely gash today. Lightweight, ponderous, and spent most of his time chasing shadows. He reminded me of me when i tried to step up to Saturday football aged 33...

You would expect by now he would have improved from almost a player to a player but he's not "kicked on". If he doesn't understand that football is about "kicking on" then he's no chance. Perhaps after his injury troubles he's not "dusted himself down" sufficiently. The scary thing about this season is that who would you swap him for? The timely return of Reeves with a point to prove is what we need - because Akpan and Anderson are equally as toilet as Devine.

It was a good tackle yes, but the two attackers royally fucked it up. If that had been our two we'd have scored. Or possibly not.

He had the space and time to wait before committing and he had the good sense to use it. If they’d had anything about them they’d have driven further forward before making it a 1v1 and losing their advantage. He deserves as much credit for his cool head as he does for the tackle. It’s good all round defensive play. The more I see Wood play, the more I like him.

And there’s too many fans who believe that because the people involved are pros then the decisions they make are correct by default. Chicksen and Wood. One’s impressing more with every game, the other can’t get a job. The saddest part is that he’d be a better player now had he come under the control of better pros.
