I'm going balls deep in 'Hit'.
One of these has to work out soon enough. I'm going for the Peter Thorne effect.

Where’s he joined from? Not heard much of him last few seasons, last time i remember him was scoring for Burton at VP in the play offs. Pretty sure that was him. Might still do a job, getting on a bit though. Super sub material? [b That was Calvin Zola That’s him. Useless twat that i am.

We’ve been done I tell thee. Done: 6ft 1, played his football at a higher level, local, he’s from Manningham, knows what it means to play for this football club. There’s no way this can go wrong.

Its Bolton FFS. The Bradford of the championship. I saw plenty of him in the championship over the years and he WAS quality. The question is, how much of his legs have gone and how much does his experience compensate in a shit-tin league like L2.
I think he'll be ok. He wont tear it up, but if hes a proper target man and helps the team on that basis, chipping into double figures, thatll do just fine.

His career stats look good (one in three) but his return has gone into freefall since 2014. Here we are five years later giving him a home. We all moan about buying ageing old stagers in the twilight of their careers just milking old reputations for as many paydays as they can before retirement but that’s what we’ve signed here. We’ve done it again but this time it’s glaring. McLean had hidden in Hull’s reserves for a while so we couldn’t be sure what we were getting but Donaldson’s been very publicly on the wane for years now. We should have known better.

Yeah fair points. But then you get the odd Peter Thorne type.
Depends what our expectations of him are. Hes not going to be the most mobile and wont be prolific. But if he plays the target man role well, he could be an asset. Wed need a 20 goal man next to him. No idea whether that will be Doyle, but if he can focus on being a penalty box player then it should help his game instead of having to fight to win long balls lumped up to him.

Signing past it players on the decline based on past exploits is exactly what saw Bury and Mk Dons relegated in the same season. The only glimmer of hope is that it is only league 2. Steve Mcnulty, an obese 35 year old who's played most of his career in non league, was a regular for Tranmere who got promoted last season. Kevin Elison is 40 and still doing a job for Morcambe. Akinwena who was hopeless in league 1 is somewhat prolific in the khazi league. If there was a division where a shit, aging, now borderline journeymen would relish it'll be league 2. Still not overly enthused over this signing though. He'll be on high wages and is a gamble at best.

Tell you what though, we're bot fucking about this year are we. I remember a season or two ago when we signed bugger all until second week of july. What are we on now, is it 6 signings now?
Just shows what shite we had when we are so desperate to replace everyone involved with last season

Just shows what shite we had when we are so desperate to replace everyone involved with last season I’ll bet it’s suddenly not so difficult to sign players in January now either. Just shows the difference when you’ve got a pro running the show compared to rank amateurs like Rahic and Abbott.
